Amazing Artists!

This term we have been doing some painting.  We learnt about adding black and white to colours to make tints and shades.

To make these, you begin by painting 7/8 of a page in the colour of your choice.  Then you add black to the top and blend this downwards towards the centre of the page.  At the bottom where you left it white, add white paint and blend this upwards.  The end result should show a continuous tonal bar of colour.  Cut your page in half length ways and draw circles on the back of one of the halves.  Cut these out and glue them on in whatever design you like, trying to get the dark circles on the light end and the light circles on the dark end.

Here are some of our tonal paintings.
